Being Human Panel
On Sunday, September 22nd, we concluded our Being Human series by holding a panel discussion of questions submitted throughout the series.
The panelists were Cathy Bentley, Glen Williams, Alice Prescott, Michael Smith, and Tim Horman, with Linda Bailey moderating. Below, you’ll find both a video recording and an audio recording of the panel.
If you have questions you’d like us to consider for future panels you can always submit them here.
Questions for Small Groups
We know a number of small groups have been using this series as the basis for their group discussions. Following are some suggested questions for this week’s small group.
Which week in this series has resonated most with you? Which have you found most challenging? What changes have you made in your life as a result of this series?
What does it mean to be created in God's image, and how does this influence the way we live our lives in areas like work, relationships, and rest?
How can we balance the biblical understanding of creation with modern scientific perspectives? Is it possible to hold both views without contradiction?
In what ways can we express our Christian faith in secular workplaces or environments without being confrontational? What practical examples can we think of?
How do we discern God’s calling in our work or vocation, whether paid or unpaid? Have you had any personal experiences where faith helped guide your career decisions?
What are some practical ways to integrate self-care with the spiritual disciplines of prayer and devotion? How can we know when we need additional help, such as counselling or medical treatment?
How do our thoughts and emotions influence our spiritual health? What steps can we take to ensure our minds and emotions are aligned with God’s purposes?
What are some indicators that we may be approaching burnout? How can we build healthy margins in our lives to prevent reaching that point?
How can we apply the concept of Shalom (peace and wholeness) in our daily lives? What does it mean to have a life that is rightly ordered, and how does this contribute to our overall health?
How do you understand the balance between discipline and grace in parenting? What are some ways we can model God's love and discipline with our children?
How do we distinguish between healthy ambition and idolatry in our pursuit of success or achievements? How can we keep our priorities in line with God's will while living in a culture that values material success?
